Why Starfish Television Network?
In a world where golf, fashion, food and jewelry all have their own cable channels,
how is it the nonprofit sector does not? As niches go, the nonprofit sector makes
up a substantial portion of the American GDP, along with America's time, attention,
and passion. The Federal Reserve calls the nonprofit sector the "hidden economy."
But for all that is unseen, this much is clear: the sector represents at least 1.5
million organizations; 5.2 percent of the gross national product; and, 8.3 percent
of all wages and salaries paid in the United States. Some 65 million people of all
ages volunteer on behalf of nonprofit organizations each year. It's a niche to be
sure, but a meaningful one all the same.
"...Starfish Television Network is one of the most innovative and ground-breaking
initiatives ever introduced into the American media landscape."
-Ronald Maines, Co-Creator of The History Channel
"Being the Co-Founder of the Children’s Miracle Network, I know first hand the power
of television to tell the wonderful stories of the charities of the world and to
generate awareness and support for great causes. Children’s Miracle Network has
been using the power of television for over 25 years, broadcasting only 21 hours
each year. As a result CMN has generated over 4 billions dollars of income for the
172 CMN member hospitals. Now with The Starfish Television Network you can just
imagine the success that can be created for so many wonderful causes, having an
entire network broadcasting 24/7, 365 days a week, nationally on cable and satellite
as well as worldwide on the internet. I believe that Starfish can achieve this same
type of success for hundreds of nonprofit organizations in an even bigger way."
-Joe Lake, Co-Founder of the Children’s Miracle Network
